I have a printer installed on a Vista32 laptop and I am trying to install the same printer via the network using another laptop running Win Fails to install, error 0xe3. Please help! Operation failed with error 0xb" If we log out and log in fully as an admin user from CTRL-ALT-DEL, a real session not CMD prompt and try to add the printer OR connect to an existing print queue which was shared for example GPO, Windows acts like it is going to install the driver, does so without error, and the printer works We can log back in as the standard user and the printer works The issue in question here is the manual method is a hefty workaround and the correct drivers are ALREADY in the local driver store.

Here is a procedure I tested: User Export-WindowsDriver via Powershell on the print server to export the drivers from the driver store Put this folder on a network share that everyone has access to - I can confirm domain users have read and execute permissions on the share. Again, the version and everything else matches the print server exactly Go to add or connect a printer from the share that is using the same driver.

I am well aware that the patch prevent non-admins from installing printer drivers but there are no drivers needing to be installed in this scenario. That is completely irrelevant. By all accounts the driver has been installed, deployed, what have you, yet shared printers are still failing. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Edit: Similar threads, for reference.
